The Inner West: An Introduction to the Hidden Wisdom of the West

by Bro. Jay Kinney

Our next meeting of the Book Club will be on Monday, November 16, 2015.  At this meeting, we will be discussing the book The Inner West: An Introduction to the Hidden Wisdom of the West by Bro. Jay Kinney.

For 15 years, Bro. Kinney was the publisher and editor of Gnosis, the premier journal covering esoteric traditions and spiritual paths.  He is a California Mason and a member of the York and Scottish Rites, and is a noted Masonic author.  He has been a speaker at the California Masonic Symposium, and is a recipient of the Albert G. Mackey Award for Excellence in Masonic Research.

Although this work explores many Western esoteric and spiritual paths, it devotes an entire chapter to Freemasonry, placing our Fraternity squarely within a Western mystical tradition that should be studied by every serious student of the Craft.

From Amazon:

Jay Kinney, the "founder of the influential Gnosis magazine collects essays by some of today's finest spiritual writers to explore the West's magical and esoteric traditions...Rosicrucianism, Freemasonry, Gnosticism, The Knights Templar...Even before the success of The Da Vinci Code, many readers knew of these and other aspects of Western esoterica. But few understand their true meaning.

In The Inner West, more than twenty essays by seventeen leading authors shine a light on some of the most mysterious and closely held aspects of the Western tradition. Its authors bring to life the symbolist and occult philosophies that populate the history and beliefs of the Western way."

You can obtain the book on Amazon in both paper and electronic format at a reasonable price.

Prior to the meeting, we will be sending out a list of questions to all attendees to encourage thought and foster discussion.

This is a convivial as well as an educational gathering so please feel free to bring a favorite beverage to share, if you like.

Space is limited at Bro. David Hansch's house, so please RSVP by registering online here.

For any questions, please contact Bro.Kenneth Bennett at juniorwarden@saddlebacklaguna672.org

We hope to see you there!
