2nd International Conference on Freemasonry

A Global Perspective, Past and Present

Presented by the UCLA Freemasonry and Civil Society Program

Program Description

Over the past few decades, studies on Freemasonry have been transformed. Scholars of civil society from a variety of disciplines have acknowledged Freemasonry's key role in the formation of modern societies, and are presenting new insights through the lens of the craft.

The Second International Conference will serve as a journey through the history of Freemasonry in France, Italy, Brazil, the British Colonies and the United States, guided by the research of contemporary Masonic historians. These Masonic scholars will use their knowledge of the fraternity's past to analyze its present impact in a high-tech, globally connected world.

Learn more about the present scope of Masonic studies, and how these studies broaden our understanding of contemporary and historical socio-political phenomena. The Conference will merge academic and Masonic communities, creating a community-based approach to understanding how Freemasonry impacts our global society.

We hope you will join us for this fascinating global insight into the fraternity.
