by Wor. Andrew Hammer

Our next meeting of the Book Club will be on Tuesday, August 5, 2014.  At this meeting, we will be discussing Wor. Andrew Hammer's book Observing The Craft.  It is a short, easy read, but Wor. Hammer's strong opinions and passion for Freemasonry will no doubt challenge our thinking about how we practice the Craft.  No matter where we end up standing with respect to the concept of observance in Freemasonry, we will have a great discussion and learning experience.

From Amazon:

"Written by Andrew Hammer, Master of one of the world's most historic Masonic lodges (Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22), Observing the Craft is a manifesto of sorts for the observant Mason, who seeks quality over quantity in every aspect of Freemasonry. It is a stringent argument for the Symbolic Lodge as being the whole of Masonry, calling for nothing but the utmost effort and commitment to be put into the operation of a Masonic lodge and its meetings."

You can obtain a hard copy version of the book by clicking on the image of the book above or the title of the book in the first paragraph.

Unfortunately, no Kindle version of the book is available.

Prior to the meeting, we will be sending out a list of questions to all attendees to encourage thought and foster discussion.

This meeting of the Book Club is open to Master Masons only.

This is a convivial as well as an educational gathering so please feel free to bring a favorite beverage to share, if you like.

Space is limited at Brother Jim Smith's house, so please register for this free event online to RSVP.  For any questions, please contact the Book Club Chair, Bro. Kenneth Bennett at seniordeacon@saddlebacklaguna672.org, or simply reply to this email.

We hope to see you there!
